Important information before your first appointment - FAQ

  • Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy treatment?

    No, however please provide a written physiotherapy referral from your doctor when you are claiming via your private health insurance otherwise your private medical insurance will not settle your claim.

  • What should I wear for my physiotherapy sessions?

    Your physiotherapist will need to see the affected area of your body: It is advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing ideally shorts and/or a sleeveless top; you may need to undress to your underwear.

  • May I be accompanied?

    Yes certainly, if you would like a chaperone to be present during your physiotherapy session/s please advise your physiotherapist before your first session.

  • Am I able to access the practice?

    Please inform your physiotherapist about any disabilities and special needs before your first appointment. The practice does provide a wheelchair access and free disabled parking and free road side parking.

  • Are children/teenagers under the age of 16 treated at Ouse Valley Physiotherapy Practice?

    Yes, Ouse Valley Physiotherapy Practice provides treatments for children above the age of 5. All children/ teenagers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or their legal guardian.

  • Am I able to access physiotherapy records and data protection?

    If you wish to make an access request please notify your physiotherapist who will provide you with an application form. All physiotherapy records are confidential and are kept securely for 8 years and/ or until your 25th birthday.

  • How do I make a complaint or express my concern about services received from Ouse Valley Physiotherapy Practice?

    You may wish to make an anonymous complaint via completing a patient survey or write to:

  • How much does physiotherapy treatment cost?

    • Initial assessment/ treatment 45 minutes: £50.00

    • Initial assessment/ treatment 60 minutes: £72.00

    • Follow-up treatment 30 minutes: £40.00

    • Follow-up treatment 45 minutes: £56.00

    • Home visit: £92.00 Initial assessment/ treatment

    • Home visit: £70.00 Follow-up treatment 45 minutes

    • Home visit: £50 Follow-up treatment 30 minutes

    • Viewing medical records: £10.00 (£0.00 from 2018/05/25)

    • Release of medical records: £50.00 (£0.00 from 2018/05/25)

    • Medical reports are charged on an hourly rate: £70.00/ hour

    • Short notice cancellation: 50% of the applicable charge and non-attendance charges: Full applicable fee

  • What happens when I miss an appointment?

    Please give 24 hour notice to re-schedule your appointment. Ouse Valley Physiotherapy Practice will charge for short notice cancellations and non-attendance.

  • How do I pay?

    The practice accepts cash, cheques and electronic bank transfers.
